The most spectacular White Heron Castle of Japan

Curated by :  Yuya Hirose

What is your image of Japan?
Most answers are definitely be Mt. Fuji, Kyoto as I expected. And one of the most foreigners' favorite destinations is Japanese castle ! So, this time I will present the most famous castle of Japan, 「Himeji Castle」, one of the world's heritage.
Actually, I went to the Himeji Castle three years ago but it was under renovation, so I couldn't see anything.

The under renovation castle was very well covered、、、

However, it was such a valuable experience because we could see what normally cannot be seen.

Finally, this was a revenge after 5 years of the renovation !!

So excited !

Anyway, I was overwhelmed by the imposing size.

Its white appearance looks so elegant and most spectacular.
To tell its history briefly, this Himeji castle was first built as a fort on top of Himeyama hill in 1333.
It was rebuilt, and remodeled for many times till 1617. And for over 400 years after that, Himeji Castle has remained intact, even throughout the extensive bombing of Himeji in World War II, and natural disasters such as the 1995 Great Hanshin earthquake.

Not only the impregnable castle which remains its beauty survived virtually unscathed surprisingly from the World War 2 for over 400 years, but  Himeji Castle contains various advanced defensive systems such as confusing maze of paths leading to the castle's keep and etc. that so interesting to look around as well !

Please go to visit Himeji Castle, the World Heritage which represents Japan! ! !
