Ibusuki is a city located in Kagoshima Prefecture, Kyushu and it’s famous for its sand bath. “Tamatebako Train” is a scenic train runs between Ibusuki station and Kagoshima Chuo Station. “Tamatebako” could be translated directly to “Treasure Box”. This time, I will introduce Ibusuki with many pictures I took there!
One side of the train is white and the other side is black. Except the special looks, the train is also cool inside! There’re some comfortable soft chairs and sofa.
Out of the window, you can see the beautiful kagoshima bay! Kagoshima bay was chosen as one of Japanese “Hyakkei” (100 most beautiful places). As the train’s name “treasure box”, the scene outside is so attractive like treasure.

The bentou eaten in railway is called “ekiben” (railway boxed meals). You can taste the unique flavor of Kyushu! They not only have a luxurious looking, but also delicious! Eat bentou with such nice scene, how enjoyable.
One hour passes so quickly, we took off the train from the white side. Walking out of the station, we can see the beautiful sea and sky! Dislike the normal sea bay, there’re few visitors in Ibusuki. You can enjoy the scene quietly, as long as you want.
This is sand bath. Bath in the sand which absorb sunlight’s energy is good for metabolism and detox. The volcanic sands are heavy and hot. Because of the weight and temperature of sand, you can hear your own heartbeats and feel your blood flows around your body. It’s a special and amazing relaxation making people feel refresh!
